Summary
This is a campy black and white Swedish movie with dancing teenagers and a pretty girl, who is sent to live with her money grubbing aunt. Some of the scenes at the beginning drag a little, but then it really picks up steam. Marie Liljedahl is beautiful as the young Inga, whose budding sexuality leads her into the arms (and bed) of handsome young Karl. I liked this movie for its corny depiction of Swedish teens discovering rock'n'roll in its infancy; it really showed the universal appeal. The sex is tame and warrants nothing more than an `R' rating, though what the masturbation scene lacks in explicitness, it makes up for in energy. The wicked aunt, who wants to auction off Inga to a wealthy neighbor, is great fun to watch for her soap opera overacting. This isn't a great film by any standards, but it can be very enjoyable if you aren't expecting a seriously good movie. Watch it in Swedish for the more earnest version, though see it dubbed in English for added camp value. The deleted scenes are a complete waste of time if you are looking for something that would add clarity to the movie, though it is a little amusing to watch the teens dancing to rock'n'roll music.
